Post-Revalida Thoughts

My lola (grandmother) was my greatest fan, I think, next to my mother. She would always wonder aloud whether she would live to see the day I graduate from medical school and become a doctor. I sometimes had to reassure her that she would live to see that day come. Well, life’s funny with its twists and turns and only God can promise tomorrow. She died last year, a few months short of my graduation from medical school.

I passed the oral revalida today with a grade of Meritissimus (3 excellents). That means I get the cum laude I was running for. My mother cried when I told her. Then she said that as she was sending the news to people through text, there seemed to be 4 people who weren’t there that should have been rejoicing with us – my maternal grandparents, my paternal grandfather, and my aunt/godmother. I especially missed my lola.

All the glory and honor I return to the Lord. As I ponder on His faithfulness in my life despite my horrid unfaithfulness, I cannot help but just stand in awe of Him. He deserves the praise and acclaim.

To Lola Angie, who’s up there rejoicing with us, this one’s for you. You didn’t live to see this day come, but your view up there is way better than what my parents will have when they attend my graduation. I miss you.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Wow, I remember how much you were stressing out about this exam. Must be such a burden lifted off your shoulders to not only have it done, but for God blessing your hard work and allowing (or giving) you the cum laude. I think your grandmother would be proud. So now what's next?
